CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – THE 2017 ENVISION-ATWELL AWARD FOR LOW VISION RESEARCH
The Low Vision Research Group (LVRG) now invites nominations for the 2017 Envision-Atwell Award
The Envision-Atwell Award is in honor of former NEI program officer and long-time low vision research supporter Constance Atwell. While on staff at the National Eye Institute, Dr. Atwell played a pivotal role in encouraging and motivating high quality low vision research. The award sponsor, Envision of Wichita Kansas, has a long history of service to the low vision and blind community and continues to provide support annually to LVRG for the award and the social event.
The Envision-Atwell Award is given to an ARVO presenter who is a junior investigator, defined as an individual who is actively engaged in low vision, visual impairment and / or visual rehabilitation research and who is currently a student, post-doctoral researcher, or junior faculty member with less than five years since his/her last professional degree. The award consists of a $1,000 stipend and a trophy celebrating the spirit of the award.
Self-nominations and nominations by colleagues or mentors are welcome. The nominee must be the first author on an abstract accepted for podium or poster presentation at the 2017 ARVO meeting and must be the person who makes the presentation at the meeting.
